Inspired by the cat bus from Studio Ghibli’s film, My Neighbor Totoro, Snackfood’s store cat Blackjack was illustrated as one while carrying the brand’s signature ghost characters to embark a hopeful journey commuting back home (balik kampung) and to mark the crossing to a new season from Ramadhan to Raya. It also symbolised a hopeful journey of what’s to come in life, reminding us to rely on our intuition to see when it’s dark.
I photographed these to emulate the feelings and intuition of seeing hope in the dark, as well as standing in Blackjack’s shoes as a first cat’s POV with a binocular-light vision.
